Rose Shampoo
The first appeal of this shampoo is the scent – a very authentic fragrance evoking memories of an English Rose Garden on a summer’s evening – absolute bliss on a grey and dreary morning. I gave this quite a challenge on the first use, washing my hair after a swim outing with my baby and a particularly sweaty spin class. I have a LOT of hair, and did have to shampoo twice to be confident that it was clean. Subsequent washes under ‘normal’ conditions only required one wash. I was also a little unsettled by the reduced lather, being used to lots of bubbles (which I do appreciate are a result of all of those nasty chemicals that Neals Yard prefer to avoid). I got used to the lack of bubbles very quickly, and imagine it’s much better for my hair, although I found it took longer to work the shampoo through. My hair was left looking healthy, and seemed to have less residue left in it which was an unexpected bonus (particularly as I have reasonably fair hair, and anything which puts it on the blonde side of mousey is very appreciated!). Unfortunately the fragrance was drowned out by my usual conditioner, but I guess this could be easily combated by using the Rose conditioner as well.
In summary – would I buy this again – definitely (and I’d use in conjunction with the conditioner). Would I use this every wash? Probably not – the additional time it takes to work it through is a problem for me most days when trying to squeeze a shower in whilst looking after my baby.
Geranium Shampoo
The Neals Yard Geranium Shampoo left my hair shiny and noticeably soft. Although the shampoo itself has quite a strong geranium fragrance, it left a beautiful, delicate scent in my hair. Lovely!
